Kohjinsha’s amazing dual-screen netbook

By Marina JonesNovember 28th, 2009Gadgething: Most wanted, Laptops1 komentar

kohjinsha-dualview
This magnificent new Kohjinsha 10.1-inch dual-screen netbook is going to be sold in Japan from December 11th and it will set you back for no more than $925. It sounds pricey, but it makes up for it with its beautiful design and practicality. Even though it doesn’t have touchscreen, which by me is a must-be on every new product, it is still a very progressive piece of technology. The display can be rotated all around and it has a built-in secondary display. Can that match the price of almost 1000$?!? See the video below and be a judge of that! I wouldn’t mind having one of these in my possession, that’s for sure!

Sony planning a new online store, again

By MarioNovember 23rd, 2009Breaking, Internet TVNema komentara

sony-logo According to CNET Sony is planning a new online store with music, movies, books and other downloadable content for its various electronics, including TVs, mobile phones, music players, and computers. The concept is being based on a principle of already successful PlayStation Network, a service which already has about 33 million users worldwide. The-PlayStation-Network I can say only this: make it, but make it as it should be, that means one store-one for the whole world, do not put geo borders at all, even that means taking a hard way, but make it right, be the first and take the glory (and $$$ too).

Iomega and and Sonic Solutions announced a relationship that will allow consumers to buy or rent premium entertainment to watch on their televisions without leaving the comfort of their living room. Something new? ScreenPlay_Pro_HD_9 Let’s see, ScreenPlay Pro HD is a media player from Iomega with 720p 1080i payback capabilities, HDMI, 10/100 Ethernet/USB2.0, support all standard video formats including mkv. One nice feature which is I noticed that it can record video from a camera, cable box, or VCR. What is new now that you can now download and play directly all movies,TV shows and music videos from Roxio CinemaNow’s archive. ScreenPlay_Pro_HD_5 (Download-to-own movies are priced from $9.99 to $19.99; TV shows and music videos are priced at $1.99.) Does $19.99 for one movie download sounds a little overpriced for you?
As opposed to overpriced movies download a price for ScreenPlay Pro HD media player 1TB version is $229.99, which is pretty reasonable.

Olive released the HD Hi-Fi Music Server

By MarioNovember 22nd, 2009Home Audio1 komentar

A company called Olive is saying that with Olive 4HD we can hear your music like never before with golden master sound quality. They are claiming Olive 4HD can store up to 20.000 high resolution HD tracks in 24 bit (250 times the resolution of CDs) which includes over an hour of music with 12 of the best Chesky Records’ HD tracks for free! Just looking at their specs, it looks rather impressive and tempting, (it even has Wireless 802.11n, ‘N’ yes ‘N’) , Gigabit Ethernet, 2TB HDD etc. Tons of features, and even for not a hardcore audiophile like me (I am definitely more a videophile), I would love Olive 4HD having around in my living room. olivepress_opus4_silver_angle Features continue.

November 13, 2009, Tokyo, Japan – PIONEER CORPORATION (Pioneer)
announced that it has filed a complaint against Garmin International, Inc.
(Garmin) and its associated company in the United States International Trade
Commission, alleging Garmin’s infringement of Pioneer’s patents (*1) related to
navigation technology. Pioneer seeks an exclusion order barring the importation of
infringing Garmin products into the United States, and a cease and desist order
preventing distribution of such products already in the United States.
Pioneer previously filed a complaint on October 9, 2009 against Garmin and its
associated companies in the German District Court of Dusseldorf, alleging
Garmin’s infringement of Pioneer’s patents (*2) related to navigation technology.
Pioneer there seeks a court order enjoining sales of infringing Garmin products
and compensation for the infringement of Pioneer’s patents.
Pioneer has licensed its navigation patent portfolio to other companies in this field
of technology. Pioneer has been negotiating in good faith also with Garmin for a
license to Pioneer’s navigation patent portfolio. However, since the value of the
portfolio has not been fairly evaluated by Garmin, Pioneer determined that
litigation is necessary in order to protect its intellectual property in the navigation
product field.
Pioneer is one of the leading innovators of navigation technology and has developed
fundamental patent portfolio in the field. By pursuing this litigation, Pioneer is
expecting Garmin to recognize its infringement of Pioneer’s patent rights and the
need to respect Pioneer’s intellectual property.
